HTC Invests US$10 Million in Virtual Reality Company WEVR

HTC announced an investment of around US$10 million in acquiring a 15% stake in WEVR, a US-based VR (Virtual Reality) application provider and distributor, as part of its effort to break into non-smartphone business, reported China Times on July 30. Last week, HTC unveiled the developer version of its first 3D device, dubbed HTC Vive, which is slated to hit the market in the fourth quarter of 2015. In addition to WEVR, HTC is also working with Google, HBO, Lionsgate, and the National Palace Museum in Taiwan to develop more 3D content.
